Non profits invited to apply for remaining Sask. Lotteries funds

Feb 15, 2024 | 5:13 PM

Non-profit groups still have an opportunity to apply for funding through the City of North Battleford’s Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant program.

The city announced at its recent meeting that there is about $38,000 left in the current program for new applicants seeking support.

Councillor Kelli Hawtin, who chairs the City of North Battleford Sask. Lotteries Community Grant Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee encouraged non-profits in the community to apply, for example, if they need some more support for equipment, programming, or other needs.

The year-end to apply for the current allotment of funding is approaching.

“That’s funding we have here that we make available in the community to non-profit,” Mayor David Gillan said. “We need to utilize that funding. We don’t want to be sending it back. If there are some non-profits out there that are looking for some small grants, it’s not for big grants, but it’s there. Hopefully there are some community organizations that come forward.”

City Parks and Recreation Director Cheryl DeNeire explained all funds need to be expensed by the end of March.

“If your event has already happened and you haven’t completed the paperwork on it, you can still apply. But if the event starts after April 1, you can still apply but it would be for the new fiscal year,” she said. “It’s a very easy process, so I’m hoping we can get some more people applying.”

Application forms for the grant program are available online through the city’s website, under the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.
