Coming off a wild 5-4 overtime finish in North Battleford Friday night, the Battlefords North Stars and Flin Flon Bombers will renew acquaintances again Saturday, as the scene shifts across the bridge to Battleford Arena for the second game of the teams’ weekend back-to-back.

The North Stars enter play first in the Nutrien Division and second overall in the SJHL standings with a 29-7-3-1 record through 40 games. Although Friday’s OT loss snapped the team’s 10-game winning streak, the Stars saw their point streak continue to 16 straight since their last regulation loss.

The Bombers sit atop the league standings with a 33-2-2-0 on the year, coming off a fourth straight victory a night ago, with 14 wins in their last 15 games.

The superstars on both sides took center stage in Friday’s contest. Kian Bell (one goal, two assists) and Ben Portner (two goals) combined for three goals and five points on the night, sitting first (Bell with 64 points) and tied for fourth (Portner with 53 points) in league scoring this year.

Flin Flon’s dynamos, Justin Lies (one goal, on assist), Alexi Sylvestre (one goal, two assists) and Jacob Vockler (two assists) combined for two goals and five assists between the three of them. The Bombers’ trio sit second (Lies, 59 points), and tied for fourth (Sylvestre and Vockler, 53 points each) in the scoring race.

Saturday’s game at Battleford Arena (not the ACC) will be available on 1050 CJNB, with the Ultra Print Pregame Show at 7 p.m. and puck drop to follow at 7:30 p.m.
