Extreme cold temperatures open warm-up locations

The City of North Battleford has come together with a variety of services and agencies around town to compile a list of facilities for anyone who needs shelter to stop by for a visit and warm up during this cold snap.

Downtown North Battleford

Allen Sapp Gallery – 1 Railway Avenue – 306-445-1760

Downstairs is open Wednesday-Sunday from 12-4 pm. Washrooms and water are available.

The shelter permits people during the daytime. Water, juice and hot chocolate are available. The shelter is also encouraging the public to contact them for donations of pillows, blankets and mitts/gloves.

North Battleford Fire Department – Downtown – 306-445-1770

The Fire Department will have a bus and utility vehicles downtown each night from 5-9 p.m. Washrooms and coffee are available. The Fire Department personnel will complete rounds every 90 minutes to check on the well-being of vulnerable people in the community.

North Battleford Public Library – 1392 101^st Street – 306-445-3206

Library hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and closed Sundays. Services include washrooms, Wi-Fi, and water. Coffee and hot chocolate are available for purchase. Hats and mittens are also available as supplies last and are handed out on a per-request basis.

Battlefords Indian Métis Friendship Centre – 960 103^rd Street – 306-445-8216

Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Living Faith Chapel – 1371 103^rd Street – 306-445-3009

Soup kitchen is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 12-1:30 p.m.

Options outside downtown North Battleford

NationsWEST Field House

Warm area in the lobby during hours of operation. Weekdays, 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Weekends 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

Battlefords CO-OP Aquatic Centre

Warm area in the lobby during hours of operation. Weekdays, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Weekends 1-8 p.m.
