Ames Leslie looks to 2024 in Battleford

Now that the first week in the new year has begun, people are looking ahead to what 2024 will bring and for Mayor Ames Leslie of Battleford, it promises to be busy.

“I think part [of it] is just focusing more on the roads and more the technical side of it all,” he said.

“There’s a new garbage truck coming, and you know, so 2024 is just going to be just one of those years where we’re going to try and save as much costs as we can and definitely not having any snow is helping with that,” he said.

New commercial businesses are potentially opening up in town and Leslie said the announcement will be made sometime in the early part of the new year.

“We’re excited to wait and hear those to be announced and just focus on making Battleford even better,” Leslie said.

The mayor said the thing he’s most looking forward to in the new year is working with the management team and parks and recreation to add more options for people of all ages to enjoy.

“Add to some of those community events, add a little bit more to those community functions to get people out of the house and back into the community and celebrating together,” he said.
