BIG BUST IN BIG RIVER

Traffic stops leads to drug bust in Town of Big River

Dec 22, 2023 | 9:25 AM

Two people have been arrested and charged after RCMP found meth, cocaine, and LSD following a traffic stop in the Town of Big River.

On Wednesday around 3:30 p.m., RCMP attempted a traffic stop in the town but the vehicle did not stop for police. The vehicle eventually stopped at a home.

Officers discovered that the driver of the vehicle had a suspended license and no vehicle registration. He also provided a false name to officers.

After searching the vehicle, RCMP found 495 grams of cocaine, 306 grams of meth, 111 LSD blotters, and 63 grams of an unknown substance investigators suspect to contain fentanyl, and other drug paraphernalia.

Wilson Coutts, 40, and Marcia McMahon, 37, both from Big River, are facing several charges including possession for trafficking cocaine and meth and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Coutts was also charged with identity fraud and resisting a Peace Officer while McMahon had an outstanding warrant from Big River RCMP for failing to attend court.

Both are scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Friday.
