Three people facing charges arrested in North Battleford

Three individuals who are facing various charges have been arrested in North Battleford.

According to a media release, officers from the Battlefords RCMP Gang Task Force, who were on patrol Dec. 13, observed a wanted man walking in North Battleford. The officers walked up to him and told him he was under arrest. He fled on foot. Officers then caught up to the man, who pulled out a concealed firearm, then fled again. While fleeing, he dropped the firearm, which officers seized.

Police later noticed the male suspect walking in North Battleford on Dec. 15. After he saw the officers, he ran into a nearby home on 105 Street.

Officers found and arrested the man, with assistance from the Saskatchewan RCMP Critical Incident Response Team. Police also found ammunition in the man’s possession during his arrest. Another man and a female youth, who initially provided a false name to police, were also arrested.

As a result, a 24-year-old North Battleford man is charged with resisting a peace officer, weapons possession, possession of a prohibited weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carry a firearm in a careless manner, and unlicensed possession of a prohibited device. He was also arrested for breaching a conditional sentence order.

An 18-year-old man from Maidstone is charged with failing to comply with a release order condition.

A female youth was charged with failing to comply with a release order condition and identity fraud.

All three individuals were scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court Monday.
