Nothing left ‘Undec1d3d’ as band set to play TeleMiracle

A Battlefords-area band will be among the entertainment line-up for the upcoming TeleMiracle 48.

Newly formed in 2022, “Undec1d3d” (Undecided) will join over 70 acts for the annual Kinsmen Foundation fundraiser.

“We’re a very high energy band,” said drummer Earl Bull. “We tend to put all of our energy into our shows wherever we’re playing.”

The TeleMiracle is a 20-hour telethon that dates back to 1977 and has helped raise nearly $160 million for special needs equipment, travel and other intervention support.

Bull said while it isn’t the first time a band of his has made the cut, it will be the first time with this crew, made up of Preston Starchief, Donlee Shingoose and Elliot Frank. He explained this band is more goal oriented and they’re excited.

“All of us – we have a vision and we’re all on the same page with that vision,” he said noting that the group is a work in progress, but they’ll keep going.

“It’s just a matter of us not quitting, you know? Not calling it in, not calling it quits and seeing how far we can go,” Bull added.

“Our goal is to rise to glory.”

Taking influences from rock and roll, blues and a bit of country, the group does a mix of covers and originals and taking a page out of U2’s book, credits all original music as written by Undec1d3d.

“The whole band entirely has input on every single song that we make,” he said of their process.

“Whether it’s one person writing the lyrics, one person writing the guitar parts or the bass parts or the drums, we all have an input on where we want to go with a certain song.”

For regular gigs, the band members practice at home and then come together to rehearse about once a month. For the TeleMiracle audition in Saskatoon, there wasn’t any rehearsal time as they had the song chosen.

“We already knew what we were going to play, and everybody was confident that we were all up on the same page,” Bull said.

When they arrived and got set up in the small room, the talent acquisition team said the three words that every performer lives and dies by: Whenever you’re ready.

“Everything just went dead quiet and then ‘boom’ we just exploded – just exploded – right into our song,” said Bull.

“Right away you could tell all the judges shaking their heads, bobbing their heads, banging their heads, tapping their feet, tapping their hand so, it was real fun to see.”

The band will be featured in the overnight segment and Bull said they’ve been given a 30-minute set.

“All of us, we’re feeling really, really excited about it,” he said of the chance to be performing onstage again.

“It’s something that we did work for, it’s something that we did want and we’re grateful and thankful for the opportunity that we’ve been given,” Bull said.

The band is looking to team up with the other local TeleMiracle performers to do a fundraiser to help support the cause and welcome them to reach out through their Undec1d3d Facebook page.
