Twinkle Tour contest gets ready to take off for 2023

It’s time to let your light shine, North Battleford!

City residents are getting ready to decorate their homes to compete in North Battleford’s 2023 Twinkle Tour contest.

CJNB and the City of North Battleford are once again partnering to hold the fifth annual Twinkle Tour. The event is open to residents of the City of North Battleford only.

“The only difference this year compared to last year is that the City of North Battleford is actually putting on two kinds of events to wrap things up,” Pattison Media Program Director Nic Fransoo said. “They are going hand-in-hand with the Battlefords Co-op Aquatics Centre with their Swimming with Santa event, as well as the wrap-up to the Twinkle Tour event, which we’ll be attending at the InnovationPlex at Rotary Plaza. It should be a lot of fun.”

CJNB morning show host Grant Schutte will be live on-location for the event, between noon and 3 p.m. on Dec. 16.

A guided tour is no longer part of the Twinkle Tour for safety reasons. But people can still tour the decorated homes running in the contest on their own by visiting the interactive Google Map that will indicate all the houses registered in the contest.

“You can click on each one of the little stars and find out where the address is and plan your own route through the city to take in some of the most beautiful sites,” Fransoo said. “Plus, you can see the photos up on our website of the houses that have been submitted to be considered for the People’s Choice Award.”

The winner of the People’s Choice Award will receive two tickets to see Blake Shelton in concert in Saskatoon at the SaskTel Centre.

As well, the City of North Battleford will announce their awards for Best House, Best Block and Best Business.

To get your house in the running for any of these awards, people are asked to take a photograph of their decorated home and submit it at CJNB.ca , under the Contest tab. People can register anytime before the deadline of 11:59 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 10. Voting will begin at 8 a.m., Monday, Dec. 11 and end Friday, Dec. 15 at 5 p.m.

“It’s great to have the Twinkle Tour back again this year as people get set for the holiday season, putting up those beautiful Christmas displays,” Fransoo said. “It really does put you in a wonderful mood to take in some of the twinkling lights of Christmas. This is the best way to find all of them, all at once, with the City of North Battleford and the CJNB Twinkle Tour.”
