Blackbird trial decision now moving to January
The judge’s decision in the trial for one of the accused facing charges in the death of Damian Moosomin has now been moved to the new year.
The trial for Jannay Blackbird, 34, of Saulteaux First Nation, wrapped Sept. 15 at the Court of King’s Bench in Battleford. She is facing a charge of second-degree murder in the case.
The decision was originally reserved for Dec. 11. The court confirmed the date for the verdict has now been set for Jan. 5, 2024 at 9 a.m.
There is a publication ban on the details of the case until after all the accused individuals have gone through the court process.
