A woman and a man are facing a slew of charges after the vehicle they were travelling in was reported to have sped through a police check stop at over 200 km/h.

A Saskatchewan RCMP Roving Traffic Unit officer attempted a traffic stop on Highway 16 near Maidstone at about 1:10 p.m. on Nov. 22.

Police say the vehicle did not stop and fled at a speed of about 220 km/h.

The Battlefords RCMP, Gang Task Force and Crime Reduction Team immediately tried to locate the vehicle. After investigating, they determined the vehicle stopped briefly outside a business off Highway 16. Officers searched the area and located a duffle bag containing three semi-automatic firearms, one long gun and about 45 grams of cocaine.

Officers later noticed a tow truck hauling the suspect vehicle. Police then conducted a traffic stop and arrested the passengers.

As a result of investigation, Damon Lafleur, 19, from Surrey, B.C., and Brianne Quinn, 20, from Langley, B.C., are each charged with possession of a firearm with ammunition; unlicensed possession of a firearm/ammunition; careless transport of a firearm; knowingly occupy a vehicle with firearm; unlicensed possession of a prohibited weapon; carry concealed weapon; possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine; and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Quinn is also charged with fail to stop for a peace officer, and operate a conveyance in a manner dangerous to the public.

Quinn and Lafleur appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court Nov. 24.
