RCMP are advising a man who was wanted on a number of charges including assault this past summer has now been arrested.

Police previously reported they were asking for the public’s help after a woman was allegedly assaulted by an armed man at a home on Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation (MGBHLM) on June 19.

After investigating, police determined a man armed with a firearm assaulted a woman at the home. The woman was able to leave and call for help. She reported suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Battlefords RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team searched the home for the man, but couldn’t find him.

Kelly McDonald, 37, from MGBHLM First Nation is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Nov. 24, police reported Saskatchewan RCMP’s Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) located and arrested McDonald at an address on MGBHLM First Nation.

He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court Nov. 23.
