Battlefords Hotels’ Association donates $10K to Twin Rivers Curling Club

Twin Rivers Curling Club received a big boost today when the Battlefords Hotels’ Association stepped up with a $10,000 donation to the group.

“It will help us with a lot of things – everything from [paying for] energy costs to supporting programs – from youth programs to adults – throughout the year,” Twin Rivers Curling Club President Al Gabert said. “It’s a fantastic donation.”

The Battlefords Hotels’ Association raised the money by collecting donations each year.

“What we do – everyone that’s part of the association – we put in about one per cent monthly of gross revenues that goes to the Hotels’ Association,” said Darin Manegre. “It’s just money that’s accumulated through the year from the hotels involved in the association. We’ve been doing it for years.”

The association includes Travelodge, the Tropical Inn, Canadian Motel North Battleford, Gold Eagle Lodge, Comfort Inn and Suites, Jackfish Lodge, and Holiday Inn Express.

Manegre said they decided to donate the funds to the Twin Rivers Curling Club because “they bring a lot of people from out of town, who stay at our hotels throughout the year.”

“And they have summer programs that are going on now too, junior curling, and hosting different provincial bonspiels,” he added. “[Visitors] stay with us, at the different hotels that are part of the association.”
