P.A. council set to discuss new residential care home, CUPE strike at Monday meeting

Oct 16, 2023 | 6:00 AM

It’s not a large agenda but one filled with important topics for Prince Albert’s council as it meets on Monday.

The ongoing strike involving inside city workers will be discussed, more specifically, the cost the city has incurred over the past month. These workers have been walking the picket line since Sept. 11.

Also up for discussion is a potential new residential care home. It would be in the East Flat, on 1st Street East, and provide care for up to six children.

The city has received a couple of letters from residents who are against the idea.

Meanwhile, space at the YWCA’s Stepping Stones shelter, accessibility inside the EA Rawlinson Centre, and naming more parks and green spaces in the city after local veterans are also expected to be discussed.

Council’s meeting gets underway at 5 p.m.
