It was a moment this Regina man will never forget.

While at Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority’s (SIGA) Gold Horse Casino in Lloydminster early Sunday morning, Jeffery Stepaniuk ended up winning nearly $1.5 million on the Smoke Signals jackpot.

He was officially presented a cheque four days later to properly celebrate the occasion.

“On behalf of SIGA’s Board of Directors, management, and staff, I would like to congratulate Jeffery Stepaniuk on his impressive Smoke Signals win,” said Justina Sather, General Manager of Gold Horse Casino.

Smoke Signals is a SIGA-wide progressive jackpot that links 51 slot machines at seven casinos in Carlyle, Saskatoon, North Battleford, Lloydminster, Swift Current, Prince Albert, and Yorkton.

To date, it has paid out over $61 million in jackpot wins.

The payout has now been reset back to $1 million.
