Raiders’ Championship photo no longer above Art Hauser entrance, Mintos and Bears logos added to street sign

Prince Albert’s Art Hauser Centre is looking a bit different these days.

The P.A. Raiders have taken down the 2019 WHL Championship photo that overlooked the building’s main entrance.

Michael Scissons, the business manager for the Prince Albert Raiders, told paNOW they asked the city for permission to put it up over four years ago and knew it would only be temporary.

“We got to a time this year when there wasn’t a single player on the team who was on that image,” he said.

Despite the photo coming down, it doesn’t mean the Raiders are just forgetting their incredible run. Several banners continue to hang from the rafters, a signed team jersey continues to be in the main lobby, and the Raiders locker room has its own photo of the championship team.

Scissons added they hope to add a new championship photo in the coming years.

Meanwhile, people may also notice a change to the street sign entering the parking lot for the Art Hauser Centre.

It now includes the logos of the Prince Albert Mintos and Prince Albert Northern Bears.

“Hopefully people understand that, yes, the Raiders play here but so do these two outstanding organizations,” said Scissons.

He added the sign is owned by the Raiders, so they didn’t need permission from the city. When asked why they wanted to do it, Scissons said it was the right thing to do as each team has a great history that should be highlighted.

“I just have to think back to Josh Manson, a former Minto, who’s a Stanley Cup champion. The amount of female hockey players that have come through the Bears and have represented the Nation, the (University of Saskatchewan) Huskies, and other levels is inspiring,” added Scissons.
