Sask Baseball H.O.F. to hold 8th Annual ‘Ears and Beers’

Sep 9, 2023 | 8:06 AM

The Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is holding its first major fundraiser since the 2023 summer induction ceremony last month.

The 8th Annual Ears and Beers Fundraiser will be held at the Battleford Legion Hall Friday, Sept. 15.

Doors will open for Happy Hour starting at 4:30 p.m., with dinner to follow from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and include admission and supper with corn on the cob with butter, hamburgers, hotdogs, salad, and dessert.

President of the Sask Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Jane Shury said the fundraiser is one of the three big events they hold annually that are key to paying for the hall’s operational costs as a non-profit.

“Because we are a non-profit association, we have to rely on fundraising projects in order to operate the museum,” she said. “These little projects such as our Ears and Beers and our Spring Fling, add a little into the pot for our operational costs and help keep our doors open, and at the same time give the community a time to enjoy sharing food with others.”

In addition to the meal there will also a raffle and door prize as well as little games including a beanbag toss.

“People might think the beanbag throw is just for kids, but it’s not,” Shury said confidently. “We know with parties people have at their house in the summer or fall, they have those sometimes and it can be a lot of fun. We hope people will come and partake in the fun and games, or just to come and socialize. They can certainly do that too.”

This marks the 40th year of the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, a milestone she said means a lot, thinking back on the last four decades in the community.
