Sep 5, 2023 | 5:11 PM

Two people from Little Pine First Nation have been charged for allegedly attempting to rob someone at gunpoint.

On Aug. 29, Maidstone RCMP were called by a driver who said they pulled over next to a parked vehicle with its hazard lights on Highway 16 near Bresaylor after being flagged down by a woman.

Once they stopped, a man came out from a ditch with a firearm.

The driver sped away and was not injured.

Officers quickly responded and arrested both after a quick search of the area. A small amount of methamphetamine was also found.

As a result, Crystal Semaganis, 24, and Durrell Bearsears, 30, have each been charged with one count of robbery, one count of pointing a firearm, and one count of possession of methamphetamine.

Bearsears has also been charged with one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both made their first court appearance in Lloydminster on Sept. 1, 2023.
