Investigation underway in North Battleford as man found dead one day after being assaulted

RCMP are investigating what they believe to have been a homicide in North Battleford.

On Wednesday, officers were called to a vacant house on 102^nd Street where they found a deceased man.

He’s since been identified as 37-year-old James Barbaric.

RCMP say he was the victim of an alleged assault the day earlier on the same street in North Battleford. He was treated on-site by EMS for minor injuries.

At this time, police aren’t confirming if the two incidents were related.

Anyone with information, including seeing suspicious activity around the 1400 block of 102^nd Street between 10 p.m. on Aug. 15 and 1 p.m. on Aug. 16, is asked to contact RCMP at 306-446-1720 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
