Saskatchewan Baseball H.O.F. to hold 38th Induction Ceremony

The Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame will hold its 38th Annual Induction Ceremony this Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Alex Dillabough Centre in Battleford.

This year’s induction class features 13 individuals and two teams.

Inducted in the individual category will be:

  • Corey Borthwick (La Ronge, SK)
  • *Gordon Reginald Campbell (Avonlea, SK)
  • *George Ciocia (Assiniboia, SK)
  • Larry Flicek (Neilburg, SK)
  • Kevin Frey (Sylvan Lake, AB)
  • Brad Gyug (Lumsden, SK)
  • Daryl Keller (Pilot Butte, SK)
  • *Ralph Mabee (Saskatoon, SK)
  • Brian Peters (Saskatoon, SK)
  • Darryl Rowley (Edmond, Oklahoma USA [North Battleford, SK])
  • *Dick Scott (Milestone, SK)
  • *Glen Shockey (Saskatoon, SK. [Perdue, SK])
  • *Louis Green (Jacksonville, FLA., USA [NB Beavers]).

*indicates deceased

Enshrined in the team category will be the Lloydminster Meridian Twins senior ball team from 2000-2014, and the 1972 Saskatoon Midget Raiders.

Jane Shury, President and CEO of the Sask Baseball HOF, said the yearly induction is always an exciting time around the H.O.F. and Battlefords community as a whole.

“It’s going to be a great day, especially for those that are being inducted and their family and friends that come to enjoy the festivities of the day,” she said. “People come from not just all over the province, but all over [the world]. It’s their grandmas and grandpas, and cousins and [other] family members who come specifically to the Battlefords for this event.”

Doors to the Alex Dillabough Centre will open Saturday at 3 p.m. with the ceremony starting at 5 p.m.
