Community Safety Officers prepare for influx of visitors
With an estimated 20,000 people expected to visit Territorial Days in North Battleford, the city is stepping up enforcement for traffic safety violations this week.
A media release from the city said motorists can expect to see Community Safety Officer units (CSOs) patrolling at various times of day in response to an increased number of speeders – information that is supported by speed sensors throughout North Battleford according to director of protective services, Chief Lindsay Holm.
“It’s concerning to look at the speed reports. Motorists are compromising public safety by speeding, street racing, and in general operating vehicles in an unsafe manner. The City’s Community Safety Officers will be making these targeted patrols in an effort to reduce these occurrences of excessive speed, and to keep our community safe for other motorists and pedestrians.”
Holm said the targeted enforcement will begin Monday afternoon. Anyone who would like to report an area of concern in the community may do so by contacting the CSO administrative line at 306-445-1775.
