Aquadeo Days raises $15K for Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital

It was a record turnout for the fifth annual Aquadeo Days ‘Party in the Park’, last weekend at the Resort Village of Aquadeo.

Pat Delainey Jr., with the Aquadeo Community Recreation Association (ACRA), said they couldn’t have asked for more, with the highest attendance they’ve had yet over the first half-decade of the event.

“It was just wonderful; we figured last year we had about 400 people come through the gate, and I’m going to say it was between 500 and 600 this year,” he said. “I think we’re into the next level and we’d be thrilled if every year it could be like this.”

The turnout also meant a new high-water mark with over $15,000 raised which be donated to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.

“It’s about $3,500 to $4,000 more than we raised last year,” Delainey Jr. said with audible joy, adding that it wouldn’t be possible without the many who volunteered their time and donated resources to the event again this year.

From the meat donated for the barbeque to the volunteers which included organizers and entertainers, Delainey Jr. said it’s the generosity of many that makes the event all that it is.

“We just want to thank the people that come out to support and the people who donated. We had two door prizes that were donated to be given away and the 50/50 was won by the Kramer Family and Mrs. Kramer donated it all back for the Children’s Hospital,” he said.

“It was just a huge community-run event, between the businesses that are there, the Aquadeo Resort Village itself, and the ACRA, everybody pitched into this 1,000 per cent and it came off perfectly.”

Next year’s Aquadeo Days will again be held during the Saskatchewan Day long weekend starting Aug. 3, 2024.
