RCMP are still looking for the firearm that led to a dangerous person alert being issued for Onion Lake Cree Nation.

Randy Cooke was arrested on July 27 after hiding from police for several hours after he was spotted walking outside with a firearm.

Officers were responding to a report that Cooke was causing damage to a home in the community.

According to RCMP, Cooke ran into a wooded area with his firearm immediately after confronting them which forced them to issue the alert since he was armed and potentially dangerous.

He was eventually found in a home on Onion Lake after police received a tip from the public. His firearm was not found with officers still looking to find it.

Cooke has since been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief under $5,000.

He made his first court appearance in a North Battleford courtroom via CCTV on Friday.
