Dangerous person alert cancelled for Onion Lake Cree Nation

UPDATE: 4:45 p.m.

RCMP confirmed that Randy Cooke was found and arrested in Onion Lake Cree Nation. The dangerous person alert has been cancelled.

An alert about a dangerous person has been issued by Onion Lake RCMP.

It happened shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday. The suspect is 35-year-old Randy Cooke. He is 5’9″ and weighs approximately 160 lbs. He has brushed-cut black hair and brown eyes. Police said he was last known to be carrying a firearm and traveling by foot; however, the direction of travel is unknown at this time.

Police are advising the public to not approach the suspect. Those in Onion Lake Cree Nation area are being asked to stay inside and away from windows.

“Do not leave a secure location. Don’t pick up hitchhikers. Avoid travel to or within Onion Lake Cree Nation,” the alert advised.

Onion Lake Cree Nation is near the Alberta/Saskatchewan border approximately 50 kms north of the city of Lloydminster. Report emergencies to 9-1-1. Additional alert information is on the SaskAlert App or at www.saskalert.ca
