SLOW DOWN

Driver speeding near Anglin Lake one of almost 200 tickets handed out by RCMP in June

One driver was clocked going almost twice over the speed limit in a construction zone near Anglin Lake and now faces a hefty fine.

That was one example that RCMP shared after handing out 192 tickets for speeding infractions last month. RCMP said most of those drivers failed to slow down when passing an emergency vehicle, highway maintenance vehicles, or construction vehicles.

Police said that the driver on Highway 2 near Anglin Lake was caught going 104 km/h in a 60 km construction zone, passing highway equipment with warning lights flashing.

The driver was ticketed and issued a fine of $1,075.

RCMP are reminding motorists that they must slow down to 60 km/h when passing an emergency vehicle stopped on the side of the road with lights flashing, highway and infrastructure equipment on job sites, and tow trucks assisting vehicles.
