Results from Amateur/Mid-Am Championships in North Battleford

The North Battleford Golf and Country Club was home to over 130 of the top golfers in Saskatchewan last week for the 2023 Men’s and Women’s Amateur and Mid-Am Championships.

Men’s Amateur

Josh Nagy of Saskatoon’s Riverside Country Club took the Men’s Amateur title, shooting nine-under par over 72 holes, as the lone player in the men’s tournament to complete the course in under 280 shots.

Riverside took four of the top seven spots overall, with Chase Pochyloko finishing second at three-under par, Jehremy Ryde finishing tied for third at two-under par, and Tommy Danielson finishing tied for fifth at one-under on the tourney.

Tim Acaster of North Battleford Golf and Country Club, paced all local competitors, finishing eighth in the men’s amateur at even-par. Finishing round one with a 69, Acaster then shot a 72 for par, followed by a 74 and 73 in his final two rounds.

Men’s Mid-Amateur

Acaster also won the men’s Mid-Am Championship, just edging out Jehremy Ryde, who also shot one-under-par, in a one-hole playoff to take the 54-hole championship. Acaster finished one-under-par, shooting a 69, 72, and 74 over the three days of the Mid-Am tournament.

Prince Albert’s Brett Henry rounded out the top three in the Men’s Mid-Am, at even-par. Nevin Gloe (13-over par) and Scott Thompson (14-over) of North Battleford Golf and Country Club finished top 20, at 15th and 16th overall.

Women’s Amateur

Emily Cornwall of Calgary’s Springbank Links Golf Course shot 21-over par to finish a shot up on Hallie Crozier of the Royal Regina Golf Club (who posted a 22-over), to win the Women’s Amateur in what was a tight field to the final day of the three-round competition.

Brooklyn Fry of Shell Lake, located just an hour and a half northwest of the Battlefords, finished fourth in the Women’s Amateur shooting 26-over par.

Women’s Mid-Amateur

Just two golfers competed in the Women’s Mid-Amateur tournament, as Kim Walker of Regina’s Wascana Country Club shot 42-over-par to edge out Saskatoon’s Abra Thompson at 49-over for the title.
