Man facing firearms and drug-related charges after police stop in North Battleford

A North Battleford man is facing firearms and drug-related charges following a police stop in the city.

Battlefords Gang Task Force (GTF) members were conducting proactive patrols on Thursday when they noticed a vehicle being operated by a man known to have multiple outstanding warrants.

Officers believed the vehicle was stolen and they arrested the man and three other occupants of the vehicle in the 900 block of 101 Street in North Battleford.

The man driving had an imitation firearm, over 60 grams of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine, along with weapons and other evidence of drug trafficking.

Police confirmed the truck was reported stolen from a home in the 1100 block of 112 Street on July 7.

A 32-year-old man is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of an imitation firearm for a dangerous purpose, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

He is facing outstanding warrants for being unlawfully in a dwelling house, identity fraud, and failing to comply with a release order.

The suspect was scheduled to appear at North Battleford Provincial Court on Friday.
