BUFC’s Club Day bringing communities, youth together
The Battlefords United Football Club (BUFC) is hosting its annual Club Day this Sunday, June 18 in North Battleford.
Featuring teams from around the region, including Saskatoon, Kindersley, Meadow Lake, Lloydminster, and Eatonia, competitive coordinator and coach with BUFC, Kat Huxley said it’s a chance for kids to play other club teams from around Saskatchewan they might not otherwise get a chance to.
“What we really enjoy about it is that we get to invite other clubs from throughout the province for two exhibition games,” she said. “Sometimes the smaller communities don’t always get the opportunity to play other teams, or they only get to play in tournaments, so we invite them to come have a fun day with us.”
Games will run throughout the day for male and female teams from the U9 to U19 age groups, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Centennial Soccer Field, and the field inside the outdoor track near Centennial Field. There will also be a pair of games featuring the U19 teams at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the North Comp Field.
