RCMP ask for help following attempted robbery

Jun 2, 2023 | 11:30 AM

Police are seeking help from the public following an attempted robbery in Biggar.

At about 12:45 a.m. Thursday, RCMP received a report of the incident at a home on the 200 block of Second Avenue East.

After investigating, police determined two suspects were involved. When the culprits were unable to enter the home, they fled on foot. Police said the occupant of the home did not sustain any injuries.

The suspects are described as being between approximately 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10, with slim builds. Both had their faces covered.

The RCMP said they are “working diligently to gather more information on the descriptions of the suspects involved.”

Police searched the outside of the home, asked neighbours if they saw anything, and are following up on tips they received.

Residents in the community can expect to see an increased police presence for an undetermined amount of time as officers try to locate and identify the individuals involved.

“The investigation is ongoing, and officers remain committed to notifying the public should an elevated risk to their safety be identified,” police said.

If anyone has any information, they can call Biggar RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
