Provincial watchdog investigating after police-involved vehicle collision on Moosomin First Nation
The province’s police watchdog is investigating a vehicle collision on Moosomin First Nation from last weekend.
On Saturday around 9 a.m. the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) received a notification from the RCMP about a serious incident involving the police service.
SIRT independently investigates incidents where an individual has died or suffered serious injury from the actions of on and off-duty police officers or in the custody of police, as well as allegations of sexual assault or interpersonal violence involving police.
The reported incident involved a member of the RCMP attempting a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet Cruz on a grid road on Moosomin First Nation. The Mountie followed the vehicle and activated his lights, but the car did not stop. The officer then came to a stop on a roadside approach to the vehicle. The Cruz eventually left the road and rolled. Four passengers were injured.
