Guitars and Cars Show ‘N Shine coming to Dekker Centre

The Battlefords Bent Rodz Car Club will be holding their biggest event of the summer June 11 in the parking lot of the Dekker Centre.

Kicking off for the day at 10 a.m., the Guitars and Cars Show ‘N Shine will feature live music from local-area bands including Stereo Playground, Feed Back, and Beer League, as well as food vendors, and a number of cars of various makes and models shined up to showcase to the public.

Featuring free admission and free registration, president of the car club, Greg Korpach said the event is something that’s built up pretty organically in recent years, as their club continues to grow in size and pick up steam.

“It’s something we’ve kind of done before on a smaller scale, but we’re looking for some [continued] growth here this year,” Korpach said. “We have a lot signed up and have been promoting as much as we can, so there’s been a lot of interest.”

“We’ve had lots of interest and it’s attracting a lot of different genres of vehicles and cultures. A couple years ago we had maybe 75 to 100 cars out, and now with this event, we’re looking at maybe even doubling or tripling that.” – Greg Korpach

In addition to the cars on display, there will also be a mobile trailer dyno at this year’s event “so the gearheads can get their vehicles on there and show off their horsepower and make some noise,” Korpach said with a laugh; adding that there will also be a burnout box “for those that want to have some fun and smoke some tires.”

All taking place in the parking lot area, there will also be a grand stage set up in the larger veranda area just off the lot, which will feature food vendors and seating available.

Spectators will also be able to enter the draw for a door prize, and vote for their favorite vehicle to receive the People’s Choice Award.

The Bent Rodz Car Club is also teaming up with the Battlefords Humane Society for the event, with a portion of donation proceeds going to support the shelter as well.
