Fire ban in effect for City of North Battleford

May 2, 2023 | 3:41 PM

A fire ban is currently in effect for the City of North Battleford .

The North Battleford Fire Department (NBFD) advised no burning is permitted due to a lack of precipitation, high temperatures and windy conditions in the long-range forecast.

North Battleford Fire Chief Lindsay Holm issued an immediate fire ban within city limits.

“The conditions are fairly dry for this time of year,” he said in the release. “We have been monitoring the current status in relation to dormant grass and dried vegetation in the community, and we feel that it’s in the best interest of community safety to issue a fire ban as a precaution, until further notice, when conditions improve.”

Fire bans in North Battleford apply to any type of burns, excluding fire pits that have been approved by the North Battleford Fire Department. Fire pit permits are issued after a fee is paid and an inspection is performed by the NBFD.

Further details are available on the city’s website .

Any fires or burns that take place outside an approved fire pit should be reported immediately to the North Battleford Fire Department by calling 9-1-1.
