Update: Sexual offender arrested after not following release conditions

Updated: Frederick Chickosis was arrested on Monday after not abiding his release conditions. RCMP said they received a report of Chickosis not following conditions on April 28. He was arrested in Lloydminster by Lloydminster RCMP on Monday.

A sexual offender with a high risk of reoffending is being released from prison in the North Battleford area.

Frederick Chickosis, 53, has a criminal history including violent sexual offences and has a history of reoffending. He served his full sentence, which came to an end on Friday.

During Chickosis’s time of incarceration, he completed programming to mitigate risk factors for reoffending. However, police say he hasn’t made any progress in reducing the high risk to re-offend.

Police emphasized they are releasing this information to allow the public to take preventative measures, and “not to embark upon any form of vigilantism or other unreasonable conduct directed at this individual.”

Chickosis is planning to live in North Battleford and is known to visit Little Pine First Nation.

Chickosis is required to follow conditions for the next 18 months which includes living at an approved residence, staying inside the residence from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. for the first 30 days, having no communication with any person under the age of 16 years unless under the supervision of an approved person, not possessing or consuming alcohol or drugs not prescribed by a doctor, avoiding places where the main purpose to sell alcohol, and possessing any weapons or ammunition.

Anyone who sees Chickosis violating any of his conditions, are asked to call contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
