Video Game and Pop Culture Collectors’ Show coming to N.B.

Apr 20, 2023 | 12:05 PM

If you have an interest in video games and hard-to-find collectible items, this will be an event you’ll want to attend.

Organizer Colton Schmidt is hosting the Video Game and Pop Culture Collectors’ Show at the Don Ross Centre gymnasium in North Battleford on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“It will be mostly video game and related items— action figures, and merchandise,” he said.

The show will also feature comic book superhero artwork to see as well, and Funko Pop! figures and collectibles. People can also purchase collectible pop culture T-shirts and fashion items at the show.

It’s the first time Schmidt has held this event, with five vendors from the Battlefords and Lloydminster taking part.

He said if there is enough interest in this type of show, he hopes to make it an annual event.

“I’m going to be participating as well as a vendor,” Schmidt said. “I’ve been in the Battlefords a few times for sales in the area. People have told me that they would like to see something like this in the area. So, I thought why not [offer it]. If enough people show up, I would definitely like to have it again.”

The concession stand at the event will be open all day on both days, with pizza, drinks, and snacks available. Admission is $5 or $3 for children 12 and under. A raffle ticket for a Nintendo Switch OLED is included with admission.

Organizers will also have a Nintendo Switch set up on a big projector screen that will be free to use for anyone coming to the show.

Schmidt hopes there will be a good turnout for the event.

“If you want to support the local vendors and see what there is [on offer], it would be a good way to spend your weekend,” he said.
