North Stars, Bombers schedule set for SJHL Finals

The Battlefords North Stars will kick off their SJHL Finals series with the Flin Flon Bombers this weekend in North Battleford.

The series will mark the fifth time since 2016 the two sides have met in the playoffs, and the second time in the Finals since 2017.

The (#1) North Stars are coming off a four-game sweep of the (#4) Melfort Mustangs in the semi-finals, following a five-game victory over the (#8) Weyburn Red Wings in the opening round of the post-season.

The (#3) Bombers are coming off a five-game series win over the (#2) Humboldt Broncos, after going to the limit in a seven-game series with the (#6) Estevan Bruins in the opening round that was decided in overtime of the seventh game.

As the top seed, the North Stars will retain home ice for the Finals series, with Games 1 and 2 Friday and Saturday in North Battleford. Unlike the previous series’ however, the teams will then get a full week off to regroup and prepare for the shift to Flin Flon for Games 3 and 4 the following weekend, Apr. 21 and 22.

It is also important to note, all games in Flin Flon will begin at 7:30 p.m. Manitoba time. This means they will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saskatchewan time.
