North Stars hosting Kickoff to the Finals BBQ

The Battlefords North Stars are inviting the community to a special BBQ event at the Access Communications Centre Tuesday (Apr. 11), in celebration of the team’s kick-off of the SJHL Finals this weekend.

Taking place from 4:30 – 6 p.m., those attending will be able to purchase a burger and a drink of pop or water for $5.

Marketing and office manager with the Stars, Kennedy Schmidt said the event is something the team is looking forward to, as another way to garner excitement for the coming series and invite fans and supporters to connect with the team and their favourite players first-hand.

“We’re really excited we have the opportunity to kick the week off with a barbeque and have all our players there just to interact with the public and get the community excited and rallied behind us as we head into the Finals here,” she said.

The barbequing itself will be done just outside the side doors of the rink, with the players seated inside the lobby area at tables, with access to meet with fans and sign merchandise.

“We will have tables set up and the entire North Stars’ team on hand so people can meet every player, all their favourites, and get every signature they want,” Schmidt said.

There will also be additional seating inside for those who wish, to sit down and eat.

Finals tickets

Tickets for the first two games of the Finals series will also officially go on sale Tuesday at Noon.

Tickets can be purchased online through the team website, or at the rink office from 12-4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

The opening two games of the North Stars’ Finals series with the Flin Flon Bombers will be Friday and Saturday night (Apr. 14 and 15) at 7:30 p.m. at the ACC. Both games will be available on 1050 CJNB, with the Ultra Print Pregame Show beginning at 7 p.m.
