Traffic stop leads to arrest of five people for possessing illegal firearms

Five people are facing over 20 charges after RCMP found illegal guns in their vehicle.

On Wednesday, North Battleford RCMP stopped a vehicle on the Highway 16 overpass in the city for a minor infraction.

When officers searched the vehicle, they found two semi-automatic .22 calibre rifles, one being an assault-style rifle and the other being sawed-off, making the rifle prohibited to possess.

The five people inside the vehicle were eventually arrested.

Trevor Auger, 19, of Edmonton; Brook Swiftwolfe, 20, of North Battleford; Ayla Anderson, 19, of Edmonton; Darcy Cattleman, 23, of Calgary, and Earl Swiftwolfe, 24, of Moosomin First Nation now face over a dozen charges combined including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, and resisting a police officer.

Earl Swiftwolfe was additionally charged with:

· Fraudulent personation of an individual

· Mischief under $5,000

· Uttering threats

· Unlawful possession of a prohibited

All five people were held for court, making their first appearances at North Battleford Provincial Court on Thursday morning.
