Battleford Community Spirit Group invites people to attend public meeting

Feb 22, 2023 | 12:13 PM

The Battleford Community Spirit Group is looking for more people to step up and get involved in order to keep the initiative going strong.

The grassroots group will have a community meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the Alex Dillabough Centre south meeting room in Battleford, and invites residents and business owners to take part.

The aim is to look at the viability of the group for the future.

The group says “energetic, committed members are needed to fill executive positions and organize events, so the group may continue to generate spirit within the community by providing free events.”

The public is asked to come to the meeting to hear what the group is all about.

Some of the activities the group has been involved in over the years include the town of Battleford’s fall festival and street fair, scavenger hunt contests, and the annual Lights of Joy project over the Christmas season.

Mayor Ames Leslie encourages people to support this community service group and volunteer a little of their time to help.

“I think the spirit group in itself as an organization is here for a long time,” he said. “They are just having a little bit of trouble finding executives, people who want to sit in those executive positions. If there is anybody out there who has a flair for making the community better, the town of Battleford better, and has some great ideas for promotional and fun things to do, get in contact with the spirit group, and maybe we can get them on the board.”
