Argentina rallies for three late tries to defeat Canadian men at Sydney Sevens
SYDNEY, Australia — Canada’s men fell victim to a furious Argentina comeback on Friday, conceding three late tries to lose 24-19 at the HSBC Sydney Sevens.
The game was the first for the South Americans since winning last weekend’s tournament in Hamilton, New Zealand, where they edged the host All Blacks 14-12 in the final after beating Canada 29-14 in pool play.
The Canadian women lost twice Friday, beaten 14-12 by the U.S. and 19-5 to Britain in Pool B play.
The Argentina men came to Sydney ranked third in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series standings after four events. Canada stands 14th, down in the relegation zone.
