‘Light Up the Night’ event moving indoors tonight

Dec 20, 2022 | 1:16 PM

Those attending the City of North Battleford’s “Light Up the Night” event on Tuesday will be glad to know all the fun will take place indoors now, due to the extreme cold weather.

The event will be held on the turf side of the NationsWEST Field House from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 20.

The RCMP will still accept donations for the “Cram A Cruiser” winter clothing drive to benefit the Battlefords Homeless Shelter – Miwasin Kikinaw, but those wishing to provide donations are asked to bring them inside the Field House instead. People are invited to bring toques, winter boots and jackets, as well as toiletries like shampoo and deodorant, for example, to donate to the cause.

Santa will be at the Christmas celebration too.

“Santa Claus has confirmed he will enjoy a break from the cold weather and will enjoy the city’s indoor recreational facilities,” the city said in its release.

People can relax with some free hot chocolate, courtesy of Marion and Brett Michnik with Tim Hortons, and cookies from the Gold Eagle Casino, in the lobby of the Field House.

As well, CJNB will broadcast live on location at the event, and will partner with the city to award the 2022 Twinkle Tours winners , along with the new People’s Choice Awards.

There will also be some entertainment as part of the festivities.

The city said it is pleased to welcome the Two Nations Drum Group which will participate in the event also.
