Charges laid in connection to recent shootings

Dec 19, 2022 | 3:07 PM

A total of five people have now been charged in connection to recent shooting incidents in the Battlefords

Tracy Wright, Alison Curley, Adrian Dreaver, Keagan Jackson, and Morningstar Moosomin all have pending court dates.

On Dec. 15, the North Battleford RCMP Gang Task Force was conducting proactive patrols.

Officers located a black SUV that matched the description of the suspect vehicle involved in the firearms incident where a female was shot at while driving on Dec. 13.

After completing a traffic stop of the vehicle in the city, RCMP were able to determine the black SUV was stolen.

As a result of this investigation, Wright and Curley were arrested and charged with various offences, ranging from possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, and failure to comply with a previous release order.

Further information gathered by North Battleford RCMP revealed a second vehicle was associated with the stolen black SUV.

Officers launched another investigation and were able to locate and conduct a traffic stop on this vehicle in the city the same day.

A search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating illicit drugs and three sawed-off rifles. All items were seized and taken for further investigation. As a result of this investigation, Dreaver, Jackson, and Morningstar were charged with multiple firearms and breach charges.

According to a statement Monday from RCMP, since the shootings, officers have increased their proactive patrols in the city to help maintain public safety.

The RCMP is also asking residents in the community to report information about any of these incidents to police immediately and to assist with identifying the people and/or vehicles involved.
