During this week’s City of North Battleford council meeting, it was announced that finance director Brent Nadon would be leaving his post with the city.

Margarita Pena, the city’s long-time manager of finance, will now move into her new role as finance director starting Jan. 1, 2023.

Nadon, who has been with the city for the past year and a half, said he accepted a position as the deputy director of operations and chief financial officer with the Prairie Valley School Division, located just outside of Regina.

City Manager Randy Patrick thanked Nadon for his time with the city, and welcomed Pena into her new position.

“We’re sorry to see Brent Nadon leaving,” he said.

Patrick added the city knows it has a very capable candidate in Pena taking on her new role.

“She is a fantastic candidate for this,” he said.

Going forward, Patrick said the city’s finance team is ready to tackle the year ahead.

“I think there are always challenges, especially with inflation and things hitting,” he said. “Margarita is definitely up to the challenge. She is just knowledgeable about the city, and I don’t think she will miss a beat.”
