UPDATE:

On Dec. 13, the city reported the North Battleford Fire Department wrapped up its investigation into the cause of the Nov. 28 fire at the Notre Dame church rectory garage.

The cause was determined to be an electrical fire, and is deemed non-suspicious in nature.

“Due to the prompt response from the fire department, the rectory itself sustained minimal damage,” the city said in the release.

North Battleford fire department said the cause of Monday’s fire that damaged the garage connected to the Notre Dame church rectory is still under investigation.

The rectory is located at the corner of 12 Avenue and 105 Street in North Battleford, beside Notre Dame Church to the west and Notre Dame School to the north.

Firefighters, who were called to the location Monday morning, were able to contain the fire to the garage, and quickly tackled the blaze.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire.

The City of North Battleford confirmed Monday afternoon that firefighters managed to put out the garage fire, with minor smoke damage to the attached rectory.

Notre Dame Church announced on its Facebook Page on Tuesday that the parish office will temporarily be set up in St. Bernadette Hall, located in the Notre Dame church basement until the rectory is open to the public again.

North Battleford fire dept. deputy fire chief Paul Perry said the cause of the blaze is still being determined at this time.

A minivan that was inside the garage was damaged in the fire.

Perry said the rectory is “still in liveable conditions,” as the fire didn’t migrate into the attached residence.

“The garage is the only part that is under investigation,” he said.
