Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes investigating homicide on Waterhen First Nation

One man is dead after what police are investigating as a homicide on the Waterhen First Nation early Saturday morning.

At around 4:30 a.m., Meadow Lake RCMP responded to a report of a man in medical distress at a house on the reserve. When they arrived, officers found the injured man in the home where he was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

The man has since been identified as a 36-year-old who lived on the First Nation. His name has not been released.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service have taken over the investigation into the man’s death, which is being considered a homicide. Police are also warning residents that there will be an increased police presence in the area as investigations continue.
