Crusaders standout, Adamcryck commits to Lakeland College

North Battleford’s Charlotte Adamcryck will trade in her Crusaders’ blue and gold for Rustlers’ green next year, in the next chapter of her volleyball journey.

The John Paul II Collegiate senior announced her commitment to the Lakeland Rustlers for the fall of 2023 this week, an opportunity she says she’s very much looking forward to.

“I am super excited and pumped to be able to continue playing volleyball after high school because it’s my passion and I love it, so I was really wanting to continue,” she said. “I’ve been wanting to play post-secondary for pretty much as long as I’ve been playing volleyball the last five years, and just this past year I’ve really been working hard to find a team to commit to.”

She said after attending Lakeland on a visit to see the facility and meet the staff, it wasn’t hard to envision joining the program.

“I went and toured the school and got to hang out there for a day and I just really liked the environment they had,” Adamcryck said. “The positive energy, I really liked the coaching staff, and [the team] have a really good skill level. It’s also pretty close to home, so my parents will be able to come watch and support me.”

Adamcryck has played with the school team at JPII since Grade 8, and with the Battlefords Volleyball Club since the year prior, ahead of moving over this season to a Saskatoon-based team for her final year of club before leaving for post-secondary.

Head coach of the senior girls’ team at John Paul II, Cherelle Cadrain has coached Adamcryck for two years and said she is looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the high school’s standout middle.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for her, she’s such a great overall athlete, and Lakeland College right now I think is ranked second nationally, so it’s a great opportunity to get to that next level and show her skills,” Cadrain said.

“She’s a hard worker and I know she’s going to excel and be a critical part of their team as she has been with ours. Last year she was one of our team MVPs even in her Grade 11 year, and now this year she’s one of our co-captains and I can’t say enough. She’s just a great kid and a great athlete, and she has a high academic average that will only push her further.”
