Mayor Leslie said raising the Remembrance flag well before Remembrance Day on November 11 will give people time to reflect.

“It is kind of the official mark of the Remembrance period. And also, just flying the flag helps people realize that we need to take time to pause and to thank those who gave us the freedoms and liberties that we have today,” he said.

Battleford Legion President Esther Delainey said this Remembrance Day will mark a return to an in-person service. She said she’s looking forward to the service this year.

“The service didn’t feel complete without people, other people participate,” she said.

The Remembrance Day service will start at 10:45 a.m. on November 11, at St. Vital Catholic School.

There will be a parade from the legion to St. Vital school, and then from the school to the cenotaph where three wreaths will be placed. After the service, there will be a lunch at the legion, and a banquet later in the evening for ticket holders.
