North Stars to hold $50,000 Shoot to Win contest, Friday

Oct 13, 2022 | 4:41 PM

There will be some added on-ice entertainment this Friday during the second intermission of the Battlefords North Stars’ home game versus the Melfort Mustangs.

The Stars will be hosting a special ‘Shoot to Win for $50,000’ contest, where three lucky fans will be selected to participate, each with a chance to win $50,000 – meaning between the three, as much as $150,000 could potentially be won.

Fans can purchase a single raffle ticket for $10, or three for $20, to enter for a chance to be one of the three shooters selected to take part in the Shoot to Win contest.

Half of the proceeds raised will be donated to the Star Children’s fund with the BATC, and the other 50 per cent will go to the North Stars organization.

Tables will be set up on Friday night, with raffle tickets available from pregame until the 10-minute mark of the second period. Following the deadline, the three selected contestants’ names will be pulled from the draw drum and announced to get ready for the intermission.

Marketing and office manager with the North Stars Kennedy Schmidt said it’s an event they’re looking forward to, that brings excitement for fans and benefits both team and community.

“This is huge for us to have people come into the building and be given this opportunity thanks to ITAC (Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada) and Enviroway, they helped us out a lot by setting this up and it’s absolutely phenomenal,” Schmidt said.

“I don’t think we’ve ever had anything this big in this building [for intermission entertainment] during a North Stars’ game.” – Kennedy Schmidt on Friday’s Shoot to Win contest.

Friday’s North Stars game against Melfort will be available on 1050 CJNB. The Ultra Print Pregame Show will begin at 7 p.m., with puck drop at 7:30 p.m.
