Oktoberfest returning to the Battlefords

Oct 11, 2022 | 11:53 AM

Those looking to enjoy an evening out with friends in the Battlefords will want to attend the upcoming Oktoberfest event.

The fundraiser is being organized by the non-profits Battlefords Agricultural Society and the Rotary Club of The Battlefords.

The Battlefords Agricultural Society’s General Manager Jocelyn Ritchie said this is the first time the event has been held since before the pandemic, so it will be something to look forward to.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” she said. “Come out. Harvest is pretty much done. I guarantee everyone will have a wonderful time.”

Some of the highlights of the event include traditional German food such as bratwurst sausage available for purchase, a special Oktoberfest German beer made by the Armoury Brewing Company, interactive games like keg rolling, music and dancing, and live music from Alberta band The Prairie Dogz.

Ritchie said there will be a little polka music, some German songs, some country music as well as some rock and roll.

“There is something for everyone. They are pretty versatile,” she said of the band.

The event will be MC’d by Grant Schutte, morning show host of Saskatchewan Country CJNB 1050.

“He’s always lots of fun,” Ritchie said.

Oktoberfest will take place from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 22 at the Agrivilla Building in North Battleford. Admission tickets are available by contacting The Battlefords Agricultural Society at 306-445-2024. People must be 19 years of age and over to attend. A special discount is available for those who book their tickets in advance by Oct. 21. Advance booking for group tables is also available.
