High school golfers ready for provincials weekend
The top high school golfers from across Saskatchewan will be hitting the fairway this weekend, for provincials at Jackfish Lodge and Conference Centre.
Representing the Battle West District on the girls’ side will be North Battleford Comprehensive High School’s (NBCHS) Tessa Paskemin, John Paul II Collegiate’s Ameris Wasmuth, who placed first at districts, and Julia McCarthy and Akeira Anseth from Cut Knife.
On the boys’ side, Kris Higgs and Matthew Kellgren of NBCHS will team up with Thomas Snell and Nash Sperle from Unity. Konnor Sapp, also from the North Battleford Comp., who won the gold at districts, would have also made the trip but will not be able to attend due to a prior commitment.
Coach of the NBCHS Vikings’ golf team, Nevin Gloe said it’s been great to see so many from the school, and around the area excel, with a chance to compete on the provincial stage as the game continues to grow locally.
