Battlefords RCMP use taser during arrest

A 41-year-old man is in police custody after RCMP said he resisted arrest in North Battleford Tuesday night.

Police were called to the 700 block of 99th Street at 8 p.m., on Sept. 20. They were responding to a call about a man running around screaming, and not dressed appropriately for the cold weather.

RCMP said when they arrived the man became angry, refused to follow the directions of the officers, and attempted to start a fight.

A taser was successfully used to take the man into custody, where he remains.

Charges of assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest are pending. Police believe the man was under the influence of alcohol and it was likely a contributing factor to his behaviour.
