RCMP Report: Woman injured during assault with metal bar
A young woman was arrested, and charges are pending for another suspect, after a woman in her 60s was reportedly assaulted with a metal bar.
Battlefords RCMP responded to a call from Saulteaux First Nation late Tuesday evening where two people had reportedly broke into a residence and assaulted the occupants, which included another adult female and a 10-year-old child. The older woman sustained injuries that included a cut to her arm after being struck by the suspects with a bar.
“The other occupants were assaulted, but they didn’t sustain injuries, so we don’t believe they were hit with the bar or any weapon,” Sgt. Neil Tremblay said.
The woman was transported to hospital and treated for her injures, while a 20-year-old female was arrested and also taken to hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries. She is facing charges of breaking and entering and assault with a weapon, while charges are currently pending against the second suspect who had fled the scene prior to police arriving.
